On R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, rap’s self-proclaimed Nicki Minaj re-ups her bag of tricks with the release of “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” which debuts at No. 1 with 250,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As previously reported, it also starts atop the Billboard 200.
“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” is Minaj’s first set to debut at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Her debut album “Pink Friday” started out at No. 2 on the Dec. 11, 2010, chart, although it sold more than her sophomore set in its first week (375,000.) Her debut album missed the top spot due to Kanye West‘s “Beautiful, Dark, Twisted Fantasy,” which soared 59-1 in its second week, until logging the first of its six weeks in charge beginning Jan. 22, 2011.
“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” is interpreted by Minaj’s alter-ego, a flamboyant man named Roman. The album’s charted singles so far on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs include “Stupid Hoe,” “Roman Reloaded” (featuring Weezy,) “Right By My Side” (featuring Brown) and “Beez in the Trap” (featuring 2 Chainz).
